Same compression molded EVA midsole, same 8mm drop, same Clifton fit. What's added is a GORE-TEX membrane bonded into the upper, grippier rubber for wet pavement, and reflective detailing for dark mornings. This is the first Gore-Tex Clifton since 2023, and it lands right before the stretch of the year mid-Michigan actually needs it.

The ride is the same. Same midsole foam, same 8mm drop, same last. The GTX adds the waterproof membrane, a closed mesh upper, traction pods, a speed lace, and reflective hits. It runs about an ounce heavier and costs $20 more. If your fall and winter miles happen on wet roads before sunrise, that ounce is buying you dry feet.
The membrane is bonded directly into the upper instead of sitting inside as a separate bootie, so you get the waterproofing without the stiff, boxy feel older waterproof trainers had. A PFC-free and PFAS-free water repellent coating sheds the first layer of rain before it reaches the membrane.
Extra tacky rubber in the forefoot plus weather-ready pods underfoot, aimed squarely at wet pavement. Durabrasion rubber handles the rest of the outsole for everyday mileage.
One pull and you're in, which matters more than it sounds when it's 22 degrees and you're wearing gloves. Standard laces are in the box if you'd rather tie them the normal way.
The tighter weave keeps water from wicking straight through where an open mesh would soak. Reflective detailing earns its keep once the clocks change and your evening run happens in the dark.
Available in regular and wide. Compression molded EVA midsole, no plate. Hoka does not publish a stack height for the GTX; retailer listings put it around 42 to 43mm at the heel, in line with the standard Clifton 11. Launch colorways include Varsity Burgundy, Barely Flour, and all black.
